British Columbia

Located in western Canada, British Columbia has a climate similiar to it's southern neighbor Washington. The Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) standard was adopted in 1991 and is overseen by the British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI). To be a VQA wine, 100% of the grapes must be grown in British Columbia, 95% must be from that year's harvest and 85% must be of the varietal on the label (if there is one).
