Elba

Elba, declared a DOC on 9 July 1967, is a wine grown on the island of Elba in Livorno. It can be made in a variety of different ways with a variety of different grapes. The blends include Bianco, which can also be Spumante, Rosso, which can also be Riserva, Rosato and the dessert wines Vin Santo and Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice. In addition, the wine may also be made from one of the following specific varietals: Aleatico, Ansonica (also made as a Passito) and Moscato Bianco.
