Bolgheri, declared a DOC on 1 August 1983, is a wine grown in the Castagneto Carducci commune of the Livorno province of the Toscana region of Italy. It can be made in a variety of different ways with a variety of different grapes. The blends include Bianco, Rosato, Rosso, Sassicaia (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon) and the dessert wine Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice. In addtion, the wine may also be made from one of the specific varietals Sauvignon or Vermentino.
