Gravina is a wine grown in Bari's communes of Gravina, Poggiorsini, Altamura and Spinazzola. It was granted DOC status on 4 June 1983. The grapes used are mainly Malvasia del Chianti, Greco di Tufo and Bianco d’Alessano, but Bombino Bianco, Trebbiano Toscano and Verdeca are also allowed. 11% alcohol is required in the wine, which may also be made as a Spumante.
