Barbera del Monferrato is a wine grown in the Asti and Alessandria provinces of the Piemonte region of Italia. This wine is made from mainly Barbera, but with as much as 15% of Fresia, Grignolino and/or Dolcetto. A minimum 11.5% alcohol is needed in the regular wine, or 12.5% plus a year of aging for the Superiore. It was granted DOC status on 9 January 1970.
