Gabiano, not to be confused with the Gabbiano brand of Chianti, is a wine made from Barbera, Freisa and Grignolino. These grapes are grown in the communes of Gabiano and Moncestino in Alessandria province of the Piemonte region. This DOC was created on 15 July 1983, requiring 12% alcohol in the wine or 12.5% plus two years of aging to be labeled Riserva.
