Verdicchio di Matelica is a white wine grown in the Ancona and Macerata province of the Marche region. Made with the Verdicchio, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia Toscana grape varietals, this wine requires at least 11.5% alcohol. It was declared a DOC on 21 July 1967. 12.5% alcohol plus 2 years of aging qualifies the wine to be labeled Riserva, in which case it can't be released until the 1st of December. A Spumante and Passito are also allowed in this DOC, the latter requiring 15% alcohol at a minimum.
