Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

Ancona, Italia

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is a white wine grown in the Ancona and Macerata province of the Marche region primarily (minimum 85%) from the Verdicchio varietal. This DOC was created on 11 August 1968. The wine's minimal alcohol content is 11.5%, or 12.5% plus 2 years of aging to qualify for the label Riserva. On the other hand, if the wine is made Spumante (sparkling), 9 months is aged enough to qualify as a Riserva. The other way this wine is made is as a Passito, which requires 15% alcohol minimum. If Classico is on the label, then the wine was grown within the original boundaries of this appellation.
