Rosso Piceno is a wine grown in the provinces of Ancona, Ascoli Piceno and Macerata in the Marche region. This DOC was created on 11 August 1968. The grapes used to make this red wine are primarily Montepulciano (35% - 70%) and Sangiovese (30% - 50%), however the remainder may be other reds. The Novello requires 11% alcohol, the regular wine 11.5%, and the Superiore 12.5%.
