Valtellina Rosso, which is also called Rosso di Valtellina, is a wine grown in the Sondrio province of the Lombardian region. It is made from at least 80% Nebbiolo, the rest being other red varietals. It was granted its DOC status on 11 August 1968 as Valtellina but the name changed after the Valtellina Superiore DOCG was created in 1998 and the Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG in 2003. The wine must have at least 11% alcohol and be aged 6 months.
