Cinque Terre and Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà are wines made in the Italian province of La Spezia. It was granted its DOC status on 29 May 1973 and is made from a minimum 40% Bosco and a maximum 40% Vermentino and/or Albarola, as well as other varietals from the region. Cinque Terre must have at least 11% alcohol. The Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà is made by allowing the grapes to wither until at least November 1st, then fermenting up to at least 13.5% alcohol and finally fortifying the wine over 17%.
