Calabria

Calabria was first settled by a tribe called the Oenotri, which means roughly vine growers. This tradition continued through Roman times down to today. The region is divided into the provinces of Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia and Catanzaro. No DOCG wines are made in these provinces, but plenty of DOC wines are. In addition, IGT wines made in this region may bear its name on their label.
