Savuto

This DOC is located in the Italian provinces of Catanzaro and Cosenza. The red wine Savuto can be made from Gaglioppo, Greco Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Magliocco Canino, Sangiovese, Malvasia Bianca and/or Pecorino grapes. Savuto was granted its DOC status in 1995 and must have at least 12% alcohol. If the alcohol content excedes 12.5% and it is aged at least two years it may bear Superiore on the label as well.
