Grapes

The genus Vitis encompasses the all the different grapes grown throughout the world. In Europe the species Vitis Vinifera was developed over millenia to take on the characteristics desired for winemaking and eating. In the North America there are several species which have been experimented with for a few centuries and sometimes hybridized with their cousin from across the Atlantic.
